The  incident  relates  to  a  brutal  rape  and  murder  of  a  teenager  in  Burdwan  Jamuria  .  The  Mamata  Banerjee  led  government  is  accused  of  going  soft  on  the  probe  .

 The  Burdwan  police  however  claim  that  the  FIR  named  accused  is  already  behind  bars  and  his  collaborator  has  also  been  arrested  .  Police  said  they  are  collating  evidence  and  the  probe  will  be  wrapped  up  in  time  to  enable  in  custody  trial  .

It    a  political  battle  being  fought  on  social  media  .

For  the  second  time  in  succession  Trinamool  Congress  on  Sunday  had  to  come  up  with  a  strongly  worded  response  after  NirbhayaOfBengal  became  the  top  Twitter  trend  of  the  day  .  On  January  3  the  party  had  to  react  after  SaveWbHindus  became  a  world  wide  trend  .

The  social  media  buzz  in  an  election  bound  state  can  crystallize  political  opinion  .  Therefore  the  need  for  the  ruling  party  to  come  up  with  a  riposte  .

Sickening  how  far  Right  use  Twitter  .  Accused  arrested  strong  action  taken  .  Yet  they  play  communal  card  &  paid  trolls  trend  NirbhayaOfBengal    tweeted  Derek  O  Brien  the  party  spokesperson  .  RightWing  trolls  gleeful  they  have  again  managed  a  Top  4  Twitter  trend  with  fiction  .  Fact  is  they  will  not  be  in  Top  3  in  Bengal  election  Derek  further  tweeted  .
