Hello latest news about Delhi jal board....

Delhi jal board workers pick up the pieces

PWD minister Satyendar Jain held a meeting with the commissioners of the three corporations on Sunday morning and was assured of their cooperation in allowing the drive.

"The work is being monitored at a regular basis by senior officials and live updates are being sent to the chief minister and the deputy CM.In fact, deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, water minister Kapil Mishra and speaker Ram Niwas Goel were among the participants in Sunday's drive," said a source.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party and BJP continued to trade charges over the strike with AAP accusing the BJPled corporations of having diverted funds meant for the salary of sanitation workers.

"It is condemnable that despite having received the entire budgetary amount before time and having been given concession by the Delhi government on repayment of their loan of Rs 6,000 crore and interest on it, the corporations have indulged in such petty politics," said a senior party member.

With regular safai karmacharis on strike, workers of the public works department and Delhi Jal Board took to the streets on Sunday to clean up garbage piling up since the past four days. The assembly speaker, several cabinet ministers and MLAs, and volunteers also joined the safai abhiyan.

The Delhi government decided to start the drive on Friday night and formed a task force. At least 123 machines, including loaders, earth movers, trucks, tippers and maintenance vans, were used to clean the affected areas, mostly in east Delhi. The sanitation workers of the north and east corporation have gone on an indefinite strike since Wednesday over salary dues.

"The cleaning work started on Saturday morning and continued through the day and night. We were able to clean up most of the garbage thrown purposely onto the streets and also removed fresh garbage

. There was some resistance by corporation workers and they were not allowing teams to pick up garbage or dispose it of at the landfill sites. However, the matter was resolved by afternoon. At dhalaos where the corporation workers tried to create problems, PWD teams picked up garbage at night," said a senior government official.

"We challenge the three mayors to tell people whether or not they have received the entire planned and non-planned budgetary amount from the Delhi government this financial year, how much and when they received money last year, whether or not DDA owes them Rs 1,555 crore, what has happened to the funds generated through parking charges that have been doubled and why its property tax collection has declined," he added.
