          LAGAAN ACTOR RAJESH VIVEK DIED

Bollywood actor Rajesh Vivek, mainly known for his roles in superhits like ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Swades’, died due to a heart attack in Hyderabad on January 14. He was 66.
“Rajesh passed away in Hyderabad due to a heart attack. He was shooting there for a south Indian film. It is very shocking news,” said Vivek’s friend Vishnu Sharma. Rajesh Vivek was first introduced by Shyam Benegal in his film ‘Junoon’ (1978).
Basically a theatre actor, he had also acted in popular television series ‘Mahabharata’, ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’ and in ‘Aghori’.
He made his mark as a villain in the beginning with films like ‘Veerana’ and ‘Joshilay’, often playing roles of henchman, but later on he started doing comic or supporting roles .
Some of his latest films include ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, ‘Bhoot Unkle’, ‘What is Your Rashee’, ‘Agneepath’, ‘Son of Sardaar’, ‘Dishkiyaaun’.
He had played the role of a dreaded dacoit in “Bandit Queen” (1994).
Prominent members from the team of ‘Lagaan’ led by director Ashutosh Gowariker were present at the funeral of late actor Rajesh Vivek. Ashutosh Gowariker was among the first ones to arrive and paid his last respects to one of his favourite actors, Rajesh who passed away in Hyderabad on January 14 after suffering from a heart attack .

Rajesh Vivek was a theater actor who was best known to Hindi movie audiences for his role of the astrologer Guran in Lagaan or as the Postman/Postmaster in Swades. He had also played role of Veda Vyasa, author of the Mahabharata in the popular Indian series Mahabharat (TV series). He made his mark as a villain in the beginning with films like Veerana and Joshilay, often playing roles of henchman- but later on he started doing comedic/supporting roles. His other credits include Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, What's Your Raashee? (as the Astrologer/Detective) and Bunty Aur Babli. Rajesh is also noted for his roles in the historic TV series Bharat Ek khoj. His best acting was seen in the TV Serial Aghori which is his horror best. He was roped in for an ad series of Cadbury 5 star as the father of the two sons.
