Delhi turns into fortress for Republic Day
Special arrangements have also been made for the security of the 136 French military personnel-a Delhi Police unit has been tasked with escorting them to and from Rajpath.
Senior Delhi Police officers will keep monitor the situation at Rajpath in a C4I command and control room. Sources say 300 additional cameras installed at 120 strategic locations will secure central Delhi during the parade.
The capital will be under heavy security until Tuesday
evening when French president Francois Hollande will leave the country. In
fact, the cover will be so dense that every 20 metres will have a policeman.
And these policemen will have orders to shoot if they spot suspicious activity
around Rajpath, said sources.
The hotel where the French president is staying and areas around the airport from where he will leave on Tuesday evening have been sanitised by central forces.
Snipers and security personnel posted around Rajpath would be co-ordinated by officers from NSG and Indian Army about the movement of visitors at the venue.

The live feed from IAF drones would
be analysed every minute, while the New Delhi district will be scanned by
tilt-pan cameras. Apart from these, 65 CCTV cameras will maintain watch on
Dalhousie Road and Rajpath covering the entry-exit enclosures, saluting dais,
and water channels. These cameras will have 36x optical zoom capability. Police
have also procured additional high-definition numberplate recognition cameras.
Police also said that they will not allow use of cellphones in the enclosures at the parade ground. Snipers and SWAT teams of special cell will also be positioned strategically, police said.
Apart from Lutyens' Delhi, vital places like airport and crowded areas like railway stations, bus terminals, Metro stations, markets, cinema halls and places of worship have been brought under surveillance. All DCPs and addl DCPs have been asked to ensure round-the-clock patrolling in their areas. Helicopters will patrol the outskirts of the city.
